| About the event |
A peaceful, imaginative and fun protest against oil dependency and car culture. A celebration of both the bicycle and the power of the human body. The vulnerability of the cyclist in traffic is symbolised by the exposure of cyclists bodies. If you feel shy, don't worry, the ride is clothing optional, and you are welcome to wear as many clothes as you want. There's no pressure to undress since the real point of the ride is to convey the protest message. Riders typically decorate their bikes and bodies with messages of opposition to oil dependency and car culture. Although the ride has a serious message, the atmosphere within the ride itself is pleasant and celebratory. We aim to show riders how easy and fun it is to ride through central London. You will have to bring everything with you for the entire 9 mile route, so be sure your bike has something to carry your belongings in. This year will be the 7th time the ride has happened in London, and it's expected to have more than 1,000 riders (as in the previous two years). Other rides take place around the globe, including 9 in the UK alone!
NOTE: The ride assembly location is in Hyde Park as in previous years, but the ride is not going to be circular this year. The ride finish will be in the vicinity of Tower Bridge and the Greater London Authority building. Details of the route should be available on the website before the ride. |
